Enjoy a refreshing journey with the Cherry Shrub Cooler, a concoction that brings together the rich, tart notes of homemade cherry shrub and the vibrant essence of ABSTINENCE Cape Fynbos. Crafting this delightful elixir begins with the creation of the cherry shrub—a fusion of destemmed, pitted sour cherries and sugar left to meld in a sweet symphony for two hours. The addition of apple cider vinegar introduces a tangy twist, and after two days of careful refrigeration and occasional muddling, the shrub is born.

How to make cherry shrub:

(lasts up to 6 months if refrigerated):

  • 2 cups sour cherries destemmed and pitted
  • 1 cup sugar & 1 cup apple cider vinegar Muddle together the cherries and sugar. Let sit at room temperature for 2 hours.
  • Add the apple cider vinegar. Muddle well. Transfer to a jar or container. Cover and refrigerate for 2 days.
  • After the 2 days, open your jar and muddle again.
  • Strain and discard the skins and store in a sealed container in the refrigerator

Ingredients:

  • 50ml ABSTINENCE Cape Fynbos
  • 25ml Cherry Shrub
  • 50ml Soda
  • Thyme

Method:

  1. Build drink in a Collins Glass and stir through.
  2. Garnish with a sprig of Thyme.
